Indie Brands I have fallen in love with.

If you have been a reader of the blog for a while you will know I have always strongly believed when it comes to buying makeup, eyeshadows is where you need to spend your money to get good quality, long lasting, pigmented products. Recently I have had that theory blown put of the window by two amazing Indie brands.

Before we start lets get one thing straight. This is not a paid post. Neither brands I am going to talk about have paid me. I have been send some PR, but that was after I had been buying products for myself and have continued to do so. I know most of you wouldn't expect me to prove myself but I know with all the drama in the beauty community at the moment you guys don't know who to trust. All I can say is if I am paid to review a product I love, believe you me you will know about it because I will be shouting it from the roof tops because that's the dream right?.

If you follow me on social media it will not be a surprise to you that the two brands I am talking about today are Olivia Belle beauty & Linsey Douglas MUA,s own brand.

Linsey Douglas MUA

I first came across Linsey Douglas on Plouise's Takeover group a few months ago. People were raving about her pigments and glitters that start at just £1. I was really sceptical but thought for the price it was worth buying some to try out. When I received them I could not believe the quality for such a low price point and immediately ordered more.

I've since tried out her eyeshadows in the Limited edition Candy palette and have been blown away with how pigmented they are and how easy to blend. I have just ordered her second eye shadow palette which is all matte bright shades!! I cannot wait to get my hands on it and show you guys what looks I create with it. (You can have a look and buy Linseys new palette here for £25)

Linsey also sells beautiful Liquid lipsticks for £5! Yes £5. They are really pigmented and not drying at all which I love. She has also today gave a sneak peek on social media of new bullet lipsticks she is releasing soon. Exciting!

On her website Linsey also offers a monthly Glitter and Pigment subscription service, meaning you can collect her products for a reduced price and also limited edition products. More details can be found here.

Olivia Belle Beauty

Olivia Belle Beauty is owned by the lovely Leanne. I came across her brand via Linsey's Facebook beauty group. People were raving about her eyeshadows and lashes so when she started a subscription service where you can pay to be send a mixture of her products for a discounted price I thought I would give it a go. The subscription includes different products every month and the price differs depending on what products are included. To buy, you have to go to her website and buy each month. I love this because it gives you the option to miss a month or two if money is tight. You also have no idea what products you will be receiving which is so exciting for a makeup lover like myself, especially when she includes limited edition products.

In recent weeks I have been using Olivia Belle lashes, eyeshadows and gel liners constantly and love them all. I am particularly in love with the 'Chelsea' lashes. I struggle putting lashes on and these really were the easiest lashes I have ever worked with. I have reused the same pair numerous times (Too stingey to open a new pair) and as you can see from pictures below they still look like new. I am also totally converted to white liner after using the white Gel liner. Every time I have tried nude or white liners in the past it just hasn't stayed in my water line and wasn't very pigmented so looked like I have no liner on. You can see in the pictures below this liner is really pigmented and also doesn't budge throughout the day. It also comes off really easy when you are removing your makeup at the end of the day which I was glad about because I hate having to really rub at my eyes to remove makeup.

The eyeshadows I have tried from Olivia Belle are in palettes, although they do single pans also. I was literally blown away when I received the Subscription palette (shown in pictures below). Those warm red, orange & yellow tones are right up my street. If I could create a palette it would look exactly like this one. Although swatches I have included aren't brilliant (my daughter done these!) you can see just how pigmented they are with just one swipe. You can also see from the unedited pictures of the looks I have created using this palette just how beautiful these shades look on the eyes.

You can see in pictures below and on social media some other products I have bought from Olivia Belle but I am saving these to include in a giveaway for you guys so will talk about them nearer the time.

Like Linsey, Leanne is expanding her brand with lots of new exciting products in the works. I am so excited to see what is to come.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about these brands. What really makes both of them stand out from the thousands of other brands is the fact both Linsey & Leanne go out of their way to support not only each other but hundreds of other mua's and brands via their beauty groups. It is very rare you will see a makeup brand (or any brand in fact) support and promote another brand selling the same products.

Let me know if you guys buy anything from these lovely ladies and their amazing brands and what you think! Nothing better than #womensupportingwomen. Lots of products from both brands will be included in my Christmas Giveaway!

Also please let me know if there are any other indie brands you think I should check out! I think its time smaller brands got the recognition they deserve.

Love you all <3

Revolution Pro Undereye Primer

The minute I seen this product on Superdrug's website I was instantly intrigued as I have never heard of an under eye primer before. I get really dry under eyes especially when I have been lazy with my skincare like I have recently so the fact it said it was illuminating had me sold.

The primer comes in an illuminate and hydrate formula. I bought the illuminate one as at the time the hydrating one was out of stock. I have tried this product numerous times on its own and with different concealers to make sure I really tested it out properly for you guys and because I have been so intrigued by what a unique product it is and how it works.

The primer is a creamy consistency with a light yellow colour to it (as seen in the picture below). It feels really hydrating when you are applying it to your under eyes but dries fast meaning you can go straight in with makeup. I think this product is absolutely beautiful used on its own when you aren't wearing any makeup. It totally lifts and brightens my under eye area and helps hide my dark circles. It really looks and feels like you have applied an eye cream.
Revolution Pro Illuminate Undereye primer

When applying makeup over the primer you have to be super quick, do one eye at a time. It literally acts like glue and if you do not blend quick enough your makeup is literally ruined...I learnt this lesson quickly :( although as long as you do one eye at a time you are totally fine and can be guaranteed your concealer will not move all day. I wore this in the ridiculous heat we have been having in Scotland and not even the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray could keep my foundation on, but my concealer never moved even when I'd been rubbing my eyes. What I also love is that although it really makes your concealer stick it is also so easy to remove. I hate products that make you have to really scrub at your eyes to get off, I have enough wrinkles without adding more by rubbing at them to get products off.

Onto my only small negative about this product. As I've said before I have dry under eyes if I don't take the time to apply my eye cream day and night. This product not only dries fast but has a very matte finish (I know a primer that illuminates but has a matte finish??? I am confused too!) The first time I used this product I found it just made my skin look dry and enhanced my wrinkles around my eyes. Every time I have used it since I have made sure to stick to my consistent skincare routine and have not had any problems. That is not the products fault at all but something to bare in mind when purchasing. Its the same with all makeup, nothing will look its best if your skin isn't well looked after.

I would highly recommend this primer. I don't think it is a necessity for every day use, but if you really want your makeup to stay in place for a special occasion its well worth investing in. I will most certainly be using it on no makeup days because I don't think there are many eye creams I have tried that could match up to this products when it comes to brightening my under eye area.

The Revolution Pro Under eye Primer retails for £5 and can be bought on Superdrug's website Here.

Have you tried this product or anything similar?
Id love to know what you think!

Lets Talk about Makeup - Linsey Douglas Mua

Hey Guys, I know you have all been patiently waiting to see who the next person was being interviewed in the ‘Lets Talk about Makeup’ series. You will know from my social media accounts I have been following Linsey Douglas’s career as a Makeup Artist for a while now and have loved seeing her venture out and create her own business and following as a social media influencer. I was so happy when Linsey agreed to be included in this series because as you know I like to bring you a knowledge and understanding of the Makeup Industry from all aspects. Who better to give you that than a woman who you will see from her Interview started out as just a makeup lover and went onto becoming a self taught makeup artist, business woman and now social media influencer. I think her story shows that with real determination you can do anything as long as you makeup is on point 😉

Beautylish Haul!

Hey guys, I bought some new products from Beautylish for an upcoming post so thought I would share with you what I bought and my thoughts after using them..... Enjoy!!!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Star Mirror

I have wanted one of these mirrors since they were first released but kept telling myself I didn't need another mirror but it was just too pretty to resist. I wish I had waited for the yellow one from the new collection but I do love this colour. Its great for holding really close for doing winged liner and lashes, which we all know are a nightmare.

Lets Talk about Mental Health

I am sat here in the midst of a severe bout of PMS (PreMenstrual Syndrome). I haven't been dressed all weekend. I have ate junk food. I have slept during the day but unable to sleep at night. I have been unable to watch a full TV programme or read a chapter of my book. I have paced the floor, been for baths and showers. I have attempted to tidy my house and gave in. I am sweaty, my hands are shaking, my heart is racing. My head hurts and I feel nauseous. I feel so anxious it is making me dizzy. I am crying one minute then filled with rage the next. I can't explain to friends because no matter how much they try how can they possibly understand how I am feeling when i do not understand it. This is my life with PMS.

Well there is probably no way any of you guys don’t already know this because it has been all over my social media but.....I AM UP FOR AN AWARD!! I have been nominated in the Best Blogger/Vlogger of the year category in the Official Makeup Awards 2018. You will see below the incredible talent that is in my category. My favourite girl and huge inspiration Youtuber Jamie Genevieve. The incredibly talented makeup artist mmmmitchell who you may recognise from his recent collab with Nikkie Tutorials. Lastly, London based Makeup artist and Youtuber Makeup By Tammi.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my readers for all their support. As I have touched on previously this last 6 months have been the worst of my life with losing my beautiful mum, so the blog and my social media has taken a back seat so I could concentrate on my children. I am amazed that even though I have not been around my blog is still being read all over the world including the Netherlands, Germany, China, Vietnam and Austria to name but a few. To have your continued support was amazing but to find out you guys have also nominated me for this award just blows my mind. I couldn’t possibly be more grateful. I am also overwhelmed with your comments and private messages of congratulations you guys really are the best. I am obviously under no illusion that I will win but just to be nominated is incredible.

I would be lying if I didn’t admit that the very small amount of hate I have received since this nomination was announced hasn’t got to me. I’m not going to give the haters any attention but what I will say is, yes I know there are hundreds probably thousands of other Beauty Bloggers who would have deserved this nomination because they have been around much longer and have managed to put out much more content for you guys. This time last year I would have probably felt bad about this and not mentioned the nomination but I am not the person I was then. The last 6 months has changed me. Yes I might not have been a blogger long and I might not have the hundreds of thousands of followers the other amazing artists in my category, but do you know what? The content I have posted for you guys I have worked hard on without being paid a penny. I do this because I love Makeup and skincare and I love talking to you guys about it and giving recommendations. There isn’t a day that goes by I do not receive a message asking for my advice about products. The very few times I have received a product for free I have told you guys and given an honest review. If I was doing this just for free products I would be contacting brands and just accepting anything being sent. You would not believe the amount of products I have turned down reviewing because they were not Beauty related (sunglasses, handbags, household items).

Before I go, have you guys seen my new logo?  I absolutely love it. I had such a specific idea of what I wanted and was determined it had to be perfect. I was so lucky the girl that created it for me (Logos by Leah) was very patient with me. The blog will soon be redesigned to incorporate the new logo so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Thank you again for all the love and support and check out my social media on 28th May when I will be attending the Official Makeup Awards eeeeeeek!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation Review.

Revlon Colorstay foundation is a cult favourite. Readers of my blog have regularly suggested I give it a try but to be honest I'm not a massive fan of drugstore foundations. I just feel they never live up to my favourite high end ones. When Revlon contacted me asking me to review this foundation I jumped at the chance so I could see why you guys love it so much.

I got a couple of shades (110 & 150) as I wasn't sure which would be the perfect match for my skin tone. I wore both shades, as seen in the pictures below. The shade 110 matches me perfectly. The shade 150 I found wasn't too far off my skin tone when first applied but within 5 minutes had oxidised quite a lot and looked terrible. (See picture below). The foundation also comes in two formula's depending on your skin type. I chose the normal/dry one as I have extremely dry skin but there is also a Combi/Oily version.

The foundation has a light to medium coverage. It gives just enough coverage to even out my skin tone whilst still looking very natural. If you are someone who likes a full coverage foundation this certainly wont be for you. The foundation applies very Dewy which is exactly what I want in a foundation, but I found once dry it was extremely matte and my skin felt really dry. This is nothing a quick spray of Mac Fix + or something similar cant fix so not a huge problem.

The foundation lasted really well the days I wore it, the only place I found it faded throughout the day was my chin and nose area but this happens with most foundations I use.

Overall, I really enjoyed this foundation. I feel it is very comparable to my holy grain Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation. I will definitely be reaching for it often.

100% Waterproof Makeup

Hey Guys, Long time no see! I'm sorry its been months since I posted unfortunately I've had a tough few months looking after my beautiful mum who sadly passed away just before Christmas.

I'm excited to get back to blogging and trying out new products for you guys. (Let me know what products you would like to see reviewed?). Over the last few months I haven't been wearing makeup at all but on the day of my mums funeral I decided I wanted to make a real effort for her as she always loved seeing what looks I had created. I knew the day would be filled with lots of tears so decided to shop around for products that claim to keep your makeup in place and be waterproof. I was not disappointed! I was so impressed I wanted to tell you guys about them. The items I used were -

I have the normal version of this mascara and I love it. I was always wary of trying the waterproof version as the normal one is hard enough to get off and I hate it when you have to really rub at your eyes to take mascara off. In actual fact it was relatively simple to get off. It took slightly longer than any other mascara but came off with micellar water and cotton pads. It never ran at all though the day even through plenty of tears. I also loved the fact I could buy the smaller version as I have so many mascaras they always go out of date before I use them up. I am really impressed.

My good friend Laura (@Mcmakeup86) has been raving about this powder for months but I wasn't sold because I have been loyal to my RCMA no color powder for so long. I thought I would give it a try and now will never go back to RCMA for setting under eyes again. The secret brightening powder is so fine it sets your makeup without looking cakey or dry at all and really lives up to its name by brightening the under eyes beautifully. I highly recommend this product.

I don't think it is necessary for me to say much about this product. The Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is a cult product in the makeup industry. I had tried it once or twice before but never paid much attention to how well it performed. From now on this will most certainly be my holy grail setting spray. My foundation did not move all day even when I was touching my face, blowing my nose etc. It really is worth the hype. Again, I love the fact you can buy the travel size to try the product out first before investing in the full size.

I have spoken about this liner a few times on the blog and on my social media accounts. I'm not a huge fan of the applicator as contrary to its name I don't think the brush gives you enough precision. I tend to use my holy grail Kat Von D Tattoo liner first to do my wing then go over it with the Illamasqua liner. Once I've completed this step the liner does not budge at all. I would advise using an oil based eye makeup remover to take this off as it can be hard to remove.

I hope the products mentioned will help if you are on the hunt for long lasting, waterproof makeup.
