Hey Guys, I am sorry if you were waiting for part 2 of this series life is hectic as you know especially at this time of the year. Today's interview is with the lovely Nicci Auld. Nicci lives in my hometown and I got to know her last year through our mutual love of makeup.
What I love about Nicci and what made me ask her to do this interview is her individuality and creativity. She is fearless. She doesn't feel the need to keep up with fad makeup trends, but also isn't afraid to experiment with new products and create new looks outwith her comfort zone. I wish more people encouraged individuality like Nicci!
Do you enjoy watching other YouTube Beauty influencers? If so who?
I love Youtube its my source of learning new techniques and upcoming trends. my all time fav has to be Jamie Genevieve due to the fact she is so down to earth. she is not afraid to be without make up and show women and men its ok to be natural as well as full on glam. Plus who doesn't love a wee glaswegian lol.
Like myself, you like to experiment with different makeup looks. Where do you get your inspiration?
I follow a lot of famous MUAs on Instagram and I love seeing all the new creations and trends that they are creating. I love to always be that little bit different the bolder for me the better. Don't get me wrong though there is nothing wrong with a nude lip and some dewy skin but that simply ain't me.
If you could only use 1 makeup brand forever what brand would you choose?
MAC was my first love and will be my last love.
What product can you not live without?
My MAC fluidline in deep brunette. I have had alopecia in the past and unfortunately lost a lot of my hair on my brows that never grew back. So finding the right product for me has been a labour of love and I've found it. This product is my saviour.
Do you have any tips for someone just starting to experiment with makeup?
Go for it and keep going for it. There is no right or wrong when it comes to make up I believe, its a form of self expression and if you want to wear pink lips and blue eye shadow then you ROCK that. Always be true to yourself.
What is your skincare routine?
I'm a busy mum of two so when time allows I steam my face, followed by Loreal clay mask (i love it) once that has been scrubbed off I use Dermalogica cleanser and toner. Then I use all different products depending on how my skin is but my favs are Bobbi brown face base (high end) and body shops vitamin C full range (high street). I have been blessed with very good skin and I'm so thankful for this.
At what age did your makeup obsession begin?
I would say about 25 I was always a kind of get ready and go girl before that. After the birth of my wee girl I liked to take the time to do my make up it made me feel like I was more than just a mum and gave me some self confidence back. Recently there has been a surge I very talented MUAs I think this is amazing its a great thing to see other girls doing so well. The make up game is strong the now.
Any good makeup hacks? tips?
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a hair setting gel for your brows. I can't stress this enough.
What products do you think are worth spending a bit more on?
Skincare for sure. We all need a good base to start with and if we don't have that then its going to make it so much harder for any MUA or yourself to get a good make up look.
Favourite eyeshadow palette?
hmmmm this is a hard one, I would have to say anything by Lime Crime the pigment is insane. I love all the packaging by Lime Crime too.
What was the last makeup item you purchased?
The last make up I bought was KAT VON D trooper liner. As black as my soul lol. Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about black.
What is your favourite makeup look to wear?
Grungy Smokey eye, flicked liner, big eyelashes, brows and a vibrant lip.
Favourite Lipstick?
Anything by Jeffree Star oh my god I'm in love with them all.
If money was no object, what makeup items would you buy first?
Kat Von D everlasting obsession liquid lipstick set.
